Launched in 2020 by Ryota Murakami, pillings is a brand dedicated to preserving and celebrating the timeless craft of handknitting. He created pillings to bring some warmth to fashion, inspired by the hand-knitted sweaters his mother made for him as a child. Although his classmates often teased him for wearing them, those sweaters held deep meaning for Ryota and became the foundation of his passion for creating something equally heartfelt. pillings aims to inspire future generations, honour traditional craftsmanship through collaborations with skilled Japanese hand-knitters and create a supportive environment in which knitters can flourish.
