Andreas Steiner grew up in a mountain village in the Italian Alpine region of South Tyrol. Steiner’s strong heritage is nurtured by the moments and feelings he remembers the most, like the ones spent in pure nature, without electricity, in a small cottage, with heavy rain, the farmer’s dog barking next door and days spent hiking.
After leaving the Dolomites aged 19, Steiner studied in Milan and London, and went on to work for Prada, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. His identity is guided by a raw, essentialist and minimal aesthetic infused with a vigorous mountain spirit. Rier has chosen to strengthen the brand’s focus on natural materials and local craftsmanship with a solid timeless base that is oriented more towards evolution than design.
