SEMI-FINALIST OF THE 2021 LVMH PRIZE
TAAKKby Takuya Morikawa
Hailing from Japan, Takuya Morikawa was raised by a knit designer mother and an engineer father, naturally surrounded by creative energy. He learned to make clothes through self-study in high school and went on to formally learn design at Bunka Fashion College. Post graduation, he spent time at Issey Miyake, where he honed his skills as a designer for seven years, starting from fabric creation itself. He would then carry his foundation in fabric techniques to TAAKK. There, originally developed fabrics would create new possibilities in design and in a synergistic relationship with one another, resulting in new and imaginative clothing.
